A dense cluster of large, light yellow brown crystals of
Barite
from Cavnic in Romania.
The specimen is actually 2 sided with the reverse side (last photograph) consisting of finer white to clear barite crystals.
All the crystals have fresh faces and edges.
The Cavnic mines have been worked since Pre-Roman times but there has been no significant activity there in recent decades and we can expect no new matrial on the market from this source.
